Leadership Team
As President & CEO of Bison State Bank, Mark Emley brings with him a wealth of knowledge and 40 years of experience in the banking industry. Graduating from Kansas State University with a BS in Business Administration, he then went on to receive his MBA from the University of Kansas. Mark leads Bison State Bank’s mission in bringing our local bank touch to complement our existing expertise in residential mortgage lending while expanding throughout the KC Metro area. In his free time, Mark enjoys playing golf, painting, and traveling with family.
Ryan Wiebe utilizes his expertise to assist Bison State Bank in serving traditional and non-traditional clients while continuing to support individuals, families, and community through building a foundation for financial growth and the opportunity for a better life. Ryan founded First Mortgage Solutions of Kansas City, Missouri, in 2009 and grew that passion into banking. He was born in Dodge City, Kansas, and spent several summers when he was young helping on his grandparents’ farm in Rush County. He has made it a goal to give back to the area that has given him so much. He serves as Executive Chairman of the Board.
As Chief Lending Officer, Jamie Buchmeier oversees all lending activity at Bison State Bank. Having held a variety of positions over his career in lending, including 18 years in the mortgage industry, Jamie brings a wealth of knowledge along with patience, attention to detail and a focus on customer service. In his free time, Jamie is an avid consumer of sports content and enjoys snowboarding and hiking with his wife and children.
As the Chief Administrative Officer, my main responsibility here at Bison State Bank is handling the internal functions of our daily operations and manage our vendor relationships.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my beautiful wife and kids. In my spare time, I enjoy watching my Kansas State Wildcats, KC Chiefs, and KC Royals, and my favorite activities include running, golf, softball, and working outside.

Susan Perry
EVP, Chief Operations Officer
Susan Perry oversees the operational teams. Susan is responsible for developing effective business practices for teams by defining and creating workflow processes and following compliance/regulation requirements. Susan focuses on building and supporting an inclusive atmosphere and culture to bring customers a team that demonstrates a positive work ethic, strong commitment to teamwork, and excellent customer service.
When Susan isn’t working, spending time on the beach is a favorite family past-time, along with playing competitive volleyball (sand volleyball mostly). She coached competitive junior volleyball for several years and is currently volunteer coaching with her church for their youth sports program.
Joylynn Gutierrez works as the Executive Vice President of Bison State Bank, as well as a Mortgage Loan Originator. Joylynn graduated from Kansas State University, where she received her BS in Business Administration with a dual major in Marketing/International Business & General Management. She then went on to receive her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from KSU, as well. She has now been in the banking industry for 24 years and in mortgage lending for over 20 years.
As Chief Lending Officer of Bison State Bank, Curt’s role is to structure the loan department while building its portfolio and staff to reach the bank’s strategic goals. With over 30 years of Lending Department experience in the region and 10 as Chief Lending Officer at a local bank, Curt helps Bison State Bank grow with stability. He has a BS in Business, taken additional courses and received several specialty certificates. Outside of work, Curt’s interests are primarily focused on his 3 grandchildren and playing on the lake.
With over 17 years in Retail Banking, Jill Chalmers brings a wealth of experience and an authentic approach to leading our Retail Operations team.
Conscientious and loyal, Jill is passionate about the client experience and energized by being a problem solver. Her interests are in finding solutions to complex issues while providing guidance in a way that is digestible. Jill values connection and building professional relationships that have a personal impact.
Jill graduated from the University of Kansas, where she received her BA in Psychology.
Jill resides in Lawrence with her husband, Jack, and their 2 kiddos. And yes, Jack and Jill really do live up on a hill!
Susan Croisant is our Branch Manager at the Bison,KS location.
Susan grew up on a farm south of Manhattan and attended Kansas State University for her Ag. Business degree. She also has her Kansas Property and Casualty Insurance license with over 14 years in the insurance industry, Past experience also includes 5 years as a reimbursement coordinator at a doctor/plastic surgeon office and 4 years of accounting and tax experience at a CPA firm.
Susan and her husband Curt live in Otis with their 3 daughters. When Susan isn’t at work, you’ll find her cheering on her family at one of the local dirt tracks, which her husband and daughters all race at or at the girls’ school supporting all their extra-curricular activities.
Mortgage Loan Originators
As a Mortgage loan originator at Bison State Bank, Andrew McKay walks borrowers through the mortgage process to help achieve their financial goals as they relate to mortgage options. Andrew is responsible for managing his team to monitor timely files, provide any assistance, and ensure customer satisfaction. With over 10 years of experience in sales and customer service, Andrew enjoys working with customers throughout the entire loan process and is licensed in 13 states. He graduated from Benedictine College in 2015, where he received his bachelor’s degree in history.
Andrew grew up in Jacksonville, FL with his large, close-knit family. He, his wife and son travel to visit family as frequently as they can! Andrew’s interests involve anything outdoors, whether that be backpacking/camping, fishing, boating, rock climbing, or taking his family to the park or zoo.
As a Loan Originator at Bison State Bank, Don Baker is responsible for providing the right solution for prospective borrowers. Whether it is purchasing a home or refinancing an existing home, Don’s expertise and attention to detail puts the borrower at ease. Communication throughout the process is key and Don put’s an emphasis on this aspect of the loan process.
With over 25 years of sales and operations experience, Don has worked closely with both external and internal customer bases. His experience calling on and developing relationships with numerous professional title holders makes him an ideal person to navigate the loan landscape from beginning to close. Much of Don’s prior success in sales has been predicated on referral business and his ability to make the borrower feel comfortable and secure. Don received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Utah. Prior to joining Bison, he held multiple leadership roles in large corporations, as well as owning his own business. Additionally, Don previously held the Series 6 & 63 Securities Licenses.
With over 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, Erik Rogers is committed to educating his clients and guiding them through the home loan process with clarity and confidence. His goal is to find the best loan program tailored to each client’s unique needs, ensuring they receive the best possible financing solution.
Erik believes that every client—whether a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned real estate investor—deserves the same high level of service, transparency, and dedication.
